Juveniles Arrested, Charged with Underage Drinking at Hookah Lounge in Haledon, NJ

Haledon Underage Drinking LawyersLaw enforcement in Haledon New Jersey conducted an undercover sting operation at a local hookah lounge and ultimately arrested 10 people, including six juveniles accused of underage drinking.

Detectives with the Haledon Police Department launched the investigation after they received a number of complaints about minors possibly being sold alcohol at Caf Diaz on Haledon Avenue in Haledon, NJ.

The investigation, which authorities called Operation Smoke, utilized more than 20 detectives to conduct surveillance on the Haledon caf .

Over the course of seven hours, Haledon cops arrested 10 people: six minors and four adults.

According to authorities, the six minors were consuming alcohol at the lounge. As a result, they were charged with underage drinking. This is a very serious juvenile offense that could have significant consequences for the juveniles if the charges ultimately lead to convictions.

The minors who were placed under arrest reportedly live in Haledon, Clifton, Passaic, Prospect Park, and Bergenfield. After being processed, the juveniles were released to the custody of their parents or adult guardians.

Haledon police also arrested four adults at the caf , including a 25-year-old Englewood NJ resident, a 21-year-old Passaic resident, a 22-year-old Elmwood Park resident, and a 29-year-old Paterson resident. The adults were charged with various crimes and ordinance violations, including serving alcohol to minors, maintaining a nuisance, and selling tobacco products to minors.
